I learned to succeed, by becoming my own best teacher
This is the line that defined my academic journey, and one that I am attempting to teach all the students I have taught thus far.
Hey My name is Daniel, also known as ''The Casual Tutor'', and if you'll give me a moment, I will show you why my teaching helped so many students reach their goals.
Who am I?

Name is Daniel Clopotaritei, and I am someone who found a huge inspiration and motivation in tutoring high school subjects including Maths GCSE and A level, alongside Physics GCSE and A level, and even GCSE further maths.
I decided to pursue tutoring as it was a convenient way to support myself financially, alongside pursuing my degree in civil engineering. What I found in time, is that teaching, and by default tutoring became something I got very good at, because I used teaching as a way of making myself understand concepts, and a side effect of that is that people also learned from me.

The guy in the red is me teaching my fellow university colleagues a module called structural analysis.

What was my further education?
In university, I studied Civil Engineering at Cardiff University, which is a highly mechanics and mathematical based course (hence why my favourite sections are maths and mechanics).
In this course, it was the essay based modules which were my weakest modules, and it was always consistently the exam based modules which were my highest grades.
In the end, I got awarded a first honour degree with a 76% overall grade. The evidence is below:

What were my grades at A level, and what subjects did I do?
This is one of my biggest drivers, and I highly recommend reading this part, as it will make you understand my motivations.
My first grades when I pursued A levels were:
E in Maths
D in Physics
C in English literature
This was unacceptable, especially for me who am a person that used to pride themselves on the grades they received. So I had to try again, and I did.
I retook A levels from the very beginning, and started focusing, paying attention, making mistakes, fixing those mistakes and corrected myself constantly.
The document shown are my final grades.
A in Physics
A in Maths
B in English literature

Showing all this in retrospect is easy, but getting to that point was not easy. I did not really have anyone teaching me. I was reading books, trying past exam questions, trying past papers from other exam boards, not just my own, failing questions, understanding what I failed at. It was not an easy task.
But I succeeded. And yet a question I have been asking myself is... How easy would it have been if I was helped?

My experience as a tutor:

Working for so many years, I have collected quite the amount of lessons, sitting at just around 1700 lessons by the time of writing this website. This number however, is actually an understatement.Because I have also taught lessons outside of the website I worked on simply through connections. Alongside this, I have taught university students a substantial amount, and I have also even taught my classmates many times, whether that was in university or in high school. So in terms of net sessions that I have taught, it would probably sit closer to around 2300 lessons, if I was to estimate. And in all these sessions, I have always seen friends, students and colleagues tell me that I have a way of explaining which is similar to some of the best teachers they have ever had. One of the best compliments I have ever received about my tutoring is that it was as good as one of the best lecturers I had in my university, Professor Alan Kwan (and he was an absolute genius when it came to teaching). And my client's reviews shows it:
Now, I do appreciate that just showing pictures is not exactly reliable, especially from someone you have just found on the internet. So to bring further proof, here is a video of me showing the reviews.

What do I offer if you choose me as your tutor?
You will get my 100% support.
And what that includes is:
-🕘Responses at any hour between 09:00 UK time to 20:00 UK time.
-📝Solutions and assistance to homeworks that you may have.
-💬Clear and digestible explanations with SIMPLE words. I stress the word simple because overcomplicating words is something which leads so many students to feeling confused.
-🎥Videos on any topics that you may want. I will record videos and send them to you so you can re-watch.
-🔁Our sessions will always be recorded (IF YOU CONSENT TO IT) and uploaded at the end of the day. This way, you can always go back to them and check something that you missed out.
-🎯Someone who will guide you not only in terms of content, but understanding what brings those higher grades, which may not always be in terms of being smart. It could be your mentality to school, and even your habits.
I will also tell you exactly how the sessions will run, so you can understand and have a feel for it.
-I will first tell you which topic we are covering.
-Then, I will present the section we are covering from your specification. A picture of it is shown below. I know I am using the AQA one however I am familiar with both Edexcel and OCR. Generally the content is the same over all the specs.

Physics AQA A level specification showing the particle physics section
-Following this, I will go through the content bit by bit, explaining everything there is to explain, and will stop at any point if you need further clarification.
-At the end, when we have covered the whole topic, I will set you a homework in order to see what you have understood from the teaching.
-The last method I use to teach is what I call ''The protegee method'', which is essentially me asking you ''What have you learned from me teaching you?''. And it is now your turn to teach me. This is extremely effective as it encourages the student to understand what they are talking about, rather than just to listen to me. It forces them to understand and memorise the content much better.

Why am I trying to approach people through online platforms instead of on websites?
Very simple. A large percentage of the websites that tutors work on take a SIGNIFICANT cut from the price they charge you. I will not name names, however in the past I have worked on websites which would take 46% of the money they charge the parents, and leave the tutor with only 54% of the pay.
Personally, I do not believe these websites do 46% of the work, as such I decided to attempt to work directly with the clients, rather than rely on external websites.
Alongside this, it allows me to charge a lot cheaper prices, because the middle man (i.e, the website) gets removed.
Which brings us to the next topic

Prices:
The section you have probably scrolled to instantly.
The prices can be seen in the table below:
Subject | A level Price/hour (1 on 1) | GCSE Price/hour (1 on 1) | Groups of 3 students (A level) Price/hour/student | Groups of 3 students (GCSE) Price/hour/student |
---|---|---|---|---|
Physics | 32£ | 25£ | 22£ | 15£ |
Maths | 32£ | 25£ | 22£ | 15£ |
NOTE: These prices will change depending on my availability. However if you booked sessions at a certain price, the sessions will stay at that price for the rest of the academic season. They will change depending on my availability, therefore the earlier you book sessions with me, the more likely you are to get the cheaper prices. If you are here from MyTutor:
I am trying to slowly detach myself from the website, and working with me this way would be the best way that existing clients could support me in that. There will be a time where you will hear about me without MyTutor, but until then, this is the way I have found to work best.
''What are group sessions?''
Group sessions are those where I would tutor more than 1 student at one time. Naturally the prices for group sessions per student are cheaper, but you need to find someone else who is willing to be tutored.
If however you would be inclined, I could pair you with one of my other students, and give you the offer. This can be discussed in the free meeting.

Free meetings:
These are 15 minutes sessions or more, where we discuss what the student needs, and what the parent is expecting from me. These are generally informal sessions where we get to know each other, and where we can discuss expectations, and the parents get to know me a little bit better. As the title explains, these are free sessions, meaning you can just send me an email discussing a certain time, and I will send you a google meets link where we can discuss the terms. You can ask me absolutely anything you want, so use the opportunity to get to know me.
Free first sessions:
In order for you to get to know how I work, I offer new customers a FREE FIRST SESSION, in order for them to see if I would be a good fit for them or not. After the first session, the prices would be charged as usual, however if they do not like me in the first free session for any reason, they are free to not book further sessions with me.I would ask for any clarification as to why you decided not to book sessions with me, strictly to understand what I can improve, however that will be it.

How to book sessions?
Simply fill the form below requesting a session(it is interactive, so you can insert your name, email and the subject you are interested in right here):
I will respond within 24 hours of the form being completed. If you could mention a specific timing for the free meeting it would be really good, as it would allow me to see if I am available at the same time as you suggested.
If you would just like to send me a message, you can do so at:

Thank you for reading this page :)
If you read up to this point, I would like to thank you. This webpage is my attempt of trying to detach myself from the tutoring websites, as the way they run their business is often very restrictive and borderline unfair for the students, so even you giving me a chance means a lot to me. If you decided to book sessions, I am even more grateful of course, and I am looking forward to work with each and every one of you, to improve your daughter's/son's grades, and show them that high school and exams are really not as bad as people make them out to be :).
